I have never been a big fan of laptops, but transporting my desktop to Korea seems like it could be difficult. I was thinking of bringing just the PC itself, and buying a monitor/keyboard/etc when I get to Korea. Has anyone here moved a desktop PC to Korea? I'd go a year without my desktop but I don't have a laptop and don't particularly want to spend the money it would cost to get a good one.
Also, I'm wondering what Korean law/custom is regarding pocketknives? Due to my previous occupations, I'm in the habit of carrying a small folding knife (about a 2 1/2 inch blade) with me pretty much 24/7. However, in light of their gun laws, I thought that Korean law or just everyday culture might view this a little differently than people do in the U.S. If anyone knows about this, I'd appreciate hearing more about it. Thank you! |

I brought my desktop and it works fine. It is a smaller case and it does eat up luggage space. Just make sure your computer suppors 220v input. |

Under the current Gun, Sword and Explosives Control Law, knives with a blade longer than 15 centimeters must be reported to the authorities in advance. However, police are cracking down on knives with a length of between 6-14 centimeters, arguing that they also can be used as weapons. |
My goodness - I have a kitchen knife with a 20cm blade - it has been in my kitchen for 8 years - and is ONLY used for cooking (chopping vegetables, blocks of cheese, etc) - it never leaves my kitchen..
am I suppose to report that to the authorities in advance? or are they only talking about folding knives?
