Hello dudes,

So, Youtube is at a CRAWL when I'm at home. I get maybe 12-15k down a second. I don't have this problem at school. My first thought was that I should update my DNS. Swapped to OpenDNS no problem, but YouTube is still at a crawl. Thoughts?

Youtube is slow at my home and work computer.....I dunno why.......

.............if I was suspicious I would say the Korean ISP's are capping Youtube traffic because it can use so much bandwidth.

YES! It happened to me at school right after they updated the server software. I figured it was that. But, it happens at home from time to time as well. Mad

The upgrade at school also disabled meebo, so I have no way of IM my buddies. Any suggestions?

I almost posted the same last week. I serously think Korea is capping in response to YouTube popularity and YT thumbing their noses at Korean attempts at control.

My Youtube is fast enough (I have megapass) but I keep getting this message when I try to post a comment:

본인확인제로 인해 한국 국가 설정시 동영상/댓글 업로드 기능을 자발적으로 비활성화합니다. We have voluntarily disabled this functionality on kr.youtube.com because of the Korean real-name verification law

Anyone who can understand this?? WTF is the Korean real-name verification law????

Just change your location to any country except for Korea. They can keep their inane age number Big Brother registration crap.

That's nothing. In both London and Amsterdam, the have media block on so you can't watch YouTube nor use Skype nor download anything. It was a huge disappointment on top of unnecessarily slow connections where it takes 30 seconds to a minute to load a standard web page.

Why do they block it in those countries?

Unless they've changed the law in since I was in London in August, then I don't think Youtube is censored in the UK (apart from certain workplaces, schools etc).

I'm sure London and Amsterdam residents do in fact have high speed with media, but could be held responsible for piracy. The hotels and hostels for tourists do clearly have media block as when you try to go to YouTube, you get a page stating this. Only logical reason for this is the hotel or hostel does not want to take the business risk of being sued for illegal downloading that tourists might do otherwise with their laptops.

Right now, I'm in the very Southern part of Egypt and have excellent high speed just like I did in Korea with no slowness though I can't use Utorrent since I don't know the router model to map a port, but YouTube works beautifully. In my travels, it's extremely rare to get a good connection and often none is available.

So certain businesses, like hotels, don't want people using all the bandwidth by downloading or using Youtube........that's common.......but it's not a censorship by the government.
