You can do it online. Go here http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/main_en.pt

Register your ID and password then click E application. Click re-entry permit under e-application and follow the directions. Pay the application fee and print out your certificate of re-entry permit. Done!

How do I get the information into my passport? Do I have to rely on a piece of paper? If I have to ,I am taking a chance that when I get to the airport it will not be good enough for that officer. Confused

I relied on the piece of paper after applying online. I was warned of the dire consequences of losing the paper when I left Korea so I used a bulldog clip to keep it with my passport.

I think I had my certificate in about 4 hours but I did apply on a business day. I think you need to apply at least 3 days before you travel though.

Have a good trip.

I think I will apply for it in person or see if they let me mail it registered. It just takes one officer at the airport to say paperee no good you need on passportee Rolling Eyes

You can get a single-use reentry permit from the immigration desk at Incheon Airport. It's somewhere along the back wall of the departures hall.

if you're worried about the online procedure, you can get a re-entry stamp at any immigration office. make sure to make an appointment online and avoid the a potential wait.

single entry stamps are 30,000 won and a multiple re-entry is 50,000 won. it really doesn't make sense to do single unless you're out of time. as long as you'r willing to do it online or can get to an immigration office relatively easily, multiple is the way to go.

No questions asked. just fill out the form and state which countries you plan to visit and why. 50,000 won.

The seoul immigration office is like a 10 minute walk from exit #7 Omokgyo station.

Not that it's a guarantee, but I had no issues with my re-entry permit that was issued on-line. I probably used it 3 times without any problem. It is pretty official looking and has immigration's stamp on it. But, like big fella said, be sure you don't lose it!
