Hello all. I recently met with the head of the Phy Ed department at the new International school in Songdo. He is an avid touch rubgy player and is interested in starting something up on Saturdays. This is a great chance for anyone who has played rugby in the past, or anyone just looking for a little fitness.

Experience is not necessary and both men and women are welcome. Touch is one of the fastest growing sports in the world right now and really is a lot of fun.

If interested, let me know!

I forgot to mention...

It's one of those super high tech artificial fields. Very soft and with the small little balls that help you slie if you fall. Perfect for touch!

This Touch Rugby thing, is it same as what Australians call 'Touch Football'?

I assume so, but I can never understand a thing when Aussies speak.

In Canada we call it "Sillybuggers"

The way I understand it is Rugby is Rugby Union with line-outs and rucks and mauls. I can't imagine how anyone can transform that into a 'touch' game.
'Touchy Football' I know is cut down version of Rugby League. You run with the ball, get touched, you stop and put the ball down then step over it. The dummy half behind you passes the ball to another runner. Do it six times and hand the ball over to opposition. Is that what you're referring to as 'Sillybuggers'?

Yep. Or a version similar to that. The fella securing the feild is from Australia, so I assume we'll go with that version. Anyhow, I thought folkks would figure the details out. I am sure it goes by other names in other places.
Bottom line: rugby, running and passing, no tackling for now. If enough folks were to come out, I could easily see myself coming out of retirement. At least untill I hurt myself Smile

Looks like it's a go. From now on I'll refer to it as "Touch".

Ok folks here we go, I'm pretty pumped up for a run!

When: Saturday Oct 24

Time: 9:30am

Where: Songdo International field. Take the light blue subway line to Central Park Station I'll pick up anyone there before 10:40.

PM me for more details and I'll give you my phone number.

It's a go folks. If everyone who is interested shows up, we'll have a good turnout for our first time. Hopefully we can get some good numbers and make this thing a sucess for future Touch tournaments.

I'm more familiar with the tap and go style touch, but I'm Canadian and we don't know Jack about the game! I am sure we will end up going with the league inspired form of the game. Either one is fine for me.

Hope to see some bodies.

Same thing folks. Last week was a decent turnotu for the first time around. Just a few more folks and we can use the whole field.

Tomorrow 9:30 am at the International School. Take exit 4 at Central Park station, walk about 500 meters and you are at the school.
