Anything Civil War related- PC Games, Books, web articles. A day does not go by where I fight one battle on Sid Meier's Gettysburg! or read at least a chapter from one of my Civil War books.

Contract Bridge. A rubber a day keeps the doctor away.

Curry. Japanese or Indian. Yellow Curry sucks.

I go to Yongsan and buy vast quantities of both the pirated copies (4 for 10,000 and about 90% of them are perfect quality rips) and the older films that are originals with real packaging and all the special features etc (usualyl around 3 for ten - I got the whole original '3 colours' trilogy for 10,000!!!) I also have a good friend with simillar tastes (I'm a cinephile - others call me a film snob) and we do exchanges which is cool.

Yes all the pirated copies are mostly Engllish Language films (and about 2 months ahead of what is in the cinema at any given time) with Korean subs that can be turned off. If you buy any of the European or non English Language movies, just ask the guy if they have Eng subs (yongo Jammackk isoyo?) but make sure he shows you first (they all have a dvd player and tv set up at their stalls) because some don't know but will just say yes or no regardless.

The non pirated ones are originals and usually feature a variety of subtitle options. Usually the cast / crew synopses and interives are in Korean with no Eng subs though - but for the cheap prices - big deal....

Go to either Yongsan train station in Seoul, Yongsan subway stop in Seoul or Sinyongsan subway stop in Seoul and ask someone where the dvd markets are.

The cops have been giving the vendors grief these days so a lot of them instead of having all the dvd's out, they have the old dvd originals out on display and a 'catalogue' of all the recent movies they have on dvd rip. You'll look through the catalogue and tell him what you want and he'll dash off to fetch them from wherever they are stashed. If in the event the cops arrive (has NEVER happened to me) they wont give you any trouble as you're the naive foriegner....
