Just wondering if getting a costcoi membership is worth it here, do they have alot of western stuff? We have one in nova scotia, but not sure they would sell the same stuff in Korea. I went to Walmart here and was disappointed. I dont want to pay for a membership ship here and not buy anything. How many foreigners on this board go there? Is it worth it?

I think you have to ask yourself: Do I buy in bulk? Do I eat at home a lot?

Costco has a number of western goods but it is still koreanized. Why shouldn't it be as Koreans are the largest number of consumers in Korea. Costco couldn't survive catering only to the expat crowd here.

Perhaps you should find someone who has a membership who is willing to take you along next time they go. It seems you would feel better seeing and pricing the goods before dumping money on a membership. Personally I think it's worth the 30,000--shoosh, I've wasted more money in a night of drinking!

Buy the costco membership and in June when you leave just return it and get a refund. Ask them (if you can get a refund if you are not satisfied with your membership) and they will tell you that you can return anything you buy at costco ... including the membership with no questions asked.
