|
|
Does anyone know whether having a very minor record (dismissed shop lifting case) will adversely affect my application? I have an interview with EPIK tomorrow. I just received my police check today and had no idea that the dismissed shop lifting charge would be on it! (it was 19 years ago).
On my application I didn't disclose this information, simply because I did not know til today. Should I be concerned? Or is it deemed too minor?
Any help appreciated! |

Where are you from? I know in the UK a police check will show anything on the police database, such as arrests or detentions even if you were not charged or convicted.
To avoid this get a disclosure Scotland check and it only prints out convictions so you shouldn't have any of that nonsense. |

I'm in Australia, I think I have it sorted. I can re-apply for a police check, but alter my reasons for getting one (i.e. General employment as opposed to education). Police checks for general employment only go back 10 years and leave off minor offences. Phew. Only problem with that is they take so damn long. |

It shouldn't show. If it does, request a deletion. Under the DPA, this stuff should not be included on a basic disclosure and so they have to remove it. |
