So, how many seasons before Notts Co is back in top flight, do you reckon?

Not anytime soon.

They are definitely getting a bit ahead of themselves if Sven is really in Asia to expand the brand awareness of Notts County.

I can't think of any team since Wimbledon that went up from League Two (old Fourth Division) to the premier league. Coventry did it with Jimmy Hill as manager in the seventies, so it is not impossible. Neither Wimbledon nor Coventry went the oil sheik route however.

To answer your question - 15+ years.

Fulham were a League One team, so they only went up two divisions, albeit an impressive feat in itself. Also they had a proven lower division manager (but a premier league and international bust) whereas Sven has been mediocre at best since he left Italy.

What about Hull? Over the last 9 years they've gone from third division to Premier League. Admittedly, they'll be back in the Championship next season.

I seriously doubt we'll ever see Notts County in the Premier. They'll turn in to a QPR. That is, allegedly rich but where is the evidence?

I did not realize that Hull's rise had been quite so meteoric. Five years from L2 to the Premier League. I still stand by 15+ years for County.

I think a better line of questioning is:

1. More likely to get back to the top flight, Forest or County?

or

2. Why would North Korea go after Sven? He was a disaster in Mexico with far superior players, demands an outrageous salary, and always gives off the impression of having one foot out the door.

I was surprised when the investors invested in County and didn't take on Forest (or even Derby (especially with Forest's pedigree in the past)). I'd say neither in the short-term but I think Forest could reestablish themselves in the long-term. It seems strange that a city the size of Nottingham has no top league side (same with Sheffield as well).

It seems bizarre that Sven could take over the N. Korean job. His career as a manager really isn't as successful as much of the English press made out when he first took the England job. Mexico are a decent side so I fail to see how a supposedly top-class manager couldn't do anything with them.
