hi

What do you have to pay for a Goshiwon? And are they really really small?
Can you get a studio for the same price? My employer will pay the deposit and give me a budget for accommodation.

Goshiwons tend to be very small and the price will usually start from 300,000won and go up from there (there might be cheaper ones but this is based on what I've seen and water/utilities is included in the price). If your employer is willing to pay the deposit, I recommend getting a studio apartment. More privacy, more space but it will cost a bit more (a little higher rent and utility/gas fees). Have you checked out any goshiwons around your workplace? Shop around a bit and then decide.

my friend rented a goshiwon for 200k in Sinchon last year......TINY to say the least. Could barely stand up without hitting your had or lie down full stretch and was not a tall person either Laughing

I got a goshiwon for 220,000

It was ok, but you have shared bathrooms and shower stalls. Think college dorm room, 1/4 the size. Part of the bed goes under the desk Laughing
