I have been told by my recruiter for Saudi that the visa is still being processed but they've heard unsubstantiated rumours 20-odd teachers waiting for visas may not get them. They've told us they will try to find alternative jobs as a back-up.

Today, I've decided to apply to EPIK and SMOE. I left my last ps job without giving proper notice, they threatened to try and prevent me from ever working in Korea ever again.

I sent a letter to immigration and the school, which explained I left due to my recent divorce.

I've emailed worknplay and a helpful woman called Carrie has contacted my first school for a reference, I assume it went ok because she sent me the application forms today, and she said she would explain to EPIK/SMOE about the divorce, which suggests I may have no problem returning to Korea.

I was busy this morning. I've sent all completed EPIK/SMOE forms to Carrie and I will try them both. I suspect I won't be offered anything or may not be able to return to Korea quite so easily.

We shall see. Laughing

I will give it until the end of October for this elusive Saudi visa. If Saudi and Korea don't work out, I'll try China.

I look forward to posting on here more often if I make it back to Korea.

I've got 2 years experience with GEPIK and a 100 hr TESOL certificate, so my pay should be around 2.3 again. Cool

ha ha! so many people abruptly break contracts, rush out of the country and burn their bridges, then come crawling back when their lofty plans fall through. it goes to show that a little discretion can go a long way, even in the face of the many annoyances that korean employers can throw at you.

At this point, I'm not convinced that you've even left Korea.

This guy is just a troll. He is apparently a full-bearded, shaven-headed, bin laden lookalike muslim who spent two years in Korea. Has anyone seen a muslim like this in Korea teaching at a school.

I actually think this guy is a woman from the way they write.

Troll he is and yes never left Korea

So what will you do when your new co-teacher starts giving you the cold shoulder?

I suggest that if you apply with EPIK or SMOE go for a high school, since you already know what it is like working with counter productive elementary co-teachers that dont specialize in English; despite that most of the high school Korean English teachers cant communicate in English orally, either. Often, high schools allow you more latitude and better schedules, apartments and office space. At least the last two I worked at did.

As the other poster pointed out, there is more than one country in the Middle East you can apply at.

Good luck with whatever you do.

FTK was funny when he first started but now the bubbles have gone flat. An insolent loser is still a loser. Pray for the unsuspecting co-teachers. Even if they are imaginary. Laughing

The funny thing about K is that they write the worst BS imaginable on your reference, but you can simply walk into a new job here again within days.

what's that expression again..? "don't go burning your bridges"? well it sounds like that's exactly what you've done. i'd forgot SMOE, because they will probably contact your last school for a reference.

This is a guy who's been dealt bad break and been complaining on this board for the last few months.

So who won the poll on this one?

At least with kentucker4 I can get a good chuckle.

Another one who came and went early because it was so awful here, and then came and went again. Was it weeks or months before he left the second time?

Good luck ftuk. I never thought you'd be finding your way back so quickly. Took me 10 years to forget the horrors of Korea and only 2 years to forget the horrors of childbirth. You're tougher than I thought Wink
