Friday night, I was carrying around my accordion in my backpack type case. Some girl walking with her boyfriend immediately took a disliking to me, said something and I just stood for a second wondering what I had done to have this girl so angry at me right away. She said something along the lines of, "Oh, what, you going to just stand there being a bad-(tuccus)?" I explained that I had just never been in such an immediately aggressive situation before and didn't know what to say. So, I said, "I like your hat."
Luckily, her boyfriend was there to stop her from lunging at me to rip out my throat or whatever she was planning to do, but the momentum from my friend and I dashing away caused a strap to rip from the case part of my backpack.
I've been to two clothing repair shops, both of which said that they were unable to fix it. Does anyone know a shop where they can fix straps on backpacks? I'd rather not drop 50,000 won on another case.
Thanks in advance. |

Your best bet is to find a leather bag repair shop. They should be able to handle fixing your strap because they have the heavy duty sewing machines that can handle the stitching on those kinds of straps and thick material.
I have only seen one shop like that in Korea. It's located just before the entrance of myongdong - on the side - it's hard to explain, but there's a big bank right at this paticular entrance of Myongdong...and this shop is just a few meters to the right of that, next to an alley where restaurants are located.
It's a handbag and leather bag repair shop. You just have to look around real good...maybe get a Korean friend to go with you and ask around. If you fail at this, I'll be in the area this Saturday around noon. If you can't find it, I'll show you where it is. |

Bist du krank??
Let me get this straight: you were stood innocently minding your own business on Friday night, when some Korean woman verbally attacks you out of the blue and calls you a "tuccus" (what?).
You have never been in such a life threatening situation before and so respond by complimenting her on her hat, which angers her Mike Tyson-esque boyfriend into trying to rip out your throat. In the mass stampede to escape said neanderthal, your strap rips from your accordion case.
Um...... is there something you're not telling us here? |

| I don't know if they even exist anymore, but (back in the day) a shoemaker, or shoe repair shop could fix that for you. Good luck finding one. |

Junior,
Perhaps one of us should reread the post as we gathered different things from it. That being said, this is hilarious. I'm just a sucker for any story that begins with inexpliccable rage being directed at someone carrying an accordian. OP could you please describe both the girl and the hat. I am especially curious about the hat. Sorry, I don't know where to fix the bag. |

I had a backpack fixed at my neighborhood dry cleaners, recently. She normally does alterations for pants and suits and has a heavy duty sewing machine. She did a fantastic job and reinforced the material in back of the straps with some tough canvas, so that it's actually much better than new! My advice is to just keep going around to different cleaners until you find one that's not an idiot. It shouldn't be too hard.
Also, your accordion is your friend. Ignore the naysayers of this beautiful and culturally significant instrment. If you are going to be traveling with it, invest in a good hardshell case. |
