Should I be getting paid for National Holidays?

If it is a good job and they treat you well you ought to overlook it. That being said they should pay you for those days and hours.


The natl holiday is not a free pass for them to change the schedule without your say so. You did worked a different schedule than they said you would.

But you need to look at the entire package. If they are good to you then forget about it.

If they are not then complain about it.

I posted the same question a few months ago on this forum and noone answered me. So...I went to efllaw.com and asked there. The response was that I will only get paid overtime for those holidays if I actually work on those days. Paid holidays just means that you will not be deducted from your regular salary. So, for example, my contract is 20 hours per week. So, during Lunar New Year, I obviously didn't get paid overtime, but I also worked way less than 20 hours...with my base salary not being deducted.

I hope that makes sense! I'm so tired.... Confused
