I was looking to find a way to buy things online in America, but have the Korean currency exchanged for the US dollar upon purchasing the item. I was told by Pay pal that when I use their service that the Korean price would appear at the end and the merchant would get there dollar value. I went to enter my KB debit/credit card with the Maestro symbol, but it was not accepted. The rep from pay pal claimed KB did not allow the approval. I do not know if this was a security issue or what. Has anyone experienced this before using pay pal and if yes can I clear this up over the phone with KB? |

Korean bank cards usually have a ton of extra Korean style security features that only work through internet explorer. I suggest trying to use your encryption password file that you set up with your online banking. Also check with your bank to ensure that you are authorized to make overseas purchases. |

Ow you just reminded me that I tried doing that.
What normally happens is that they charge a small amount of money to your VISA and your visa bill shows the cost plus a number to activate your paypall.
The visa's cannot refuse such a thing. |

I do not have a visa card. I have a KB debit/Maestro card AKA= Mastercard. The money is taken from my account. When I tried registering it through pay pal to establish an account KB kicked it back. |

The Maestro card doesn't count as a MasterCard, at least not for this purpose. It's pretty much just a bank card. And the KB bank cards only work in Korean ATMS. I would recommend opening an account with KEB instead, and get a VISA check card, which you get just for opening the account. You can use the VISA like a real credit card and have it registered on PayPal. THe chekc card also works in international ATMs. |

I was told by Pay pal that they(pay pal) did not reject the card, but KB did and I would have to get them to clear up the issue. |
