				| One time, I was sleeping on the bus. Something woke me up. Then, I noticed the Korean guy sitting next to me, had a picture of me sleeping on his cellphone. | |

				| There were a few kangpae guys at jongro exit 8 the other day trying to get girls to go into the club. THey weren't simply handing out flyers. They were aggressively getting in the face of girls trying to get them to get in the club (arm grabbing, not taking no for an answer etc.) I just sat there casually observing for 10 minutes while I was waiting for my girlfriend. It was hilarious.
I wanted to get a movie or a picture but my gf told me if I tried and they saw me they would beat me down. A lot of clubs are owned by mafia and they don't want to be photographed. hahahahaha

				| I hate asking because then you get the stupid peace sign pose. I would like to have a few somewhat natural looking photos of Asians without their fingers in front of their face. | |

				| I don't find Korea to be much different from anywhere else - some people don't mind having their photograph taken, some do and it's always polite to ask (wherever you are). You can sometimes run into trouble with overinflated ideas about 초상권 (the right to face) - there's an interesting article about it here. | |

I obviously wouldn't ask someone for a picture if they were clearly busy. And I know how to ask for a picture in Korean. So when I ask, I would do it in a tactful way. Just curious about everyone's experience with this, b/c I know, in some countries, local residents do not take kindly to foreigners taking their picture.

They sure don't have the decency to ask me when they sneak photos of me in public. They just go ahead and do it. It is no use to politely request to take their pictures... they will react weirdly. They will not acknowledge or even understand your courtesy.

A good rule of thumb: whatever they do is okay, whatever you do is really dumb.
