I have really been enjoying the 'Which Movies Scared You' and 'TV Shows That Surprised You' etc. threads and so I feel compelled to add to them. Some films I watched when I was a child I adored so thoroughly that I watched them over and over, and sometimes still do. Some of them are

Labrynth (this movie is MADE of awesome)
The Care Bears Adventures in Wonderland (kind of lame, but oh well)
The Neverending Story (I wanted to be the Child-Like Empress)
Disney's Robin Hood
Willow (the scene at the beginning with the dogs gave me nightmares, though)
The Chipmunk Adventure (again, slightly lame...)

......what were some of your favourites?

Yeah seeing it in the movie theater at 5 or 6 years old did terrify me - espcially when Quint was eaten Shocked

but i do remember feeling sad when that pretty girl (yes naked as well) went swimming at the beginning and was eaten as well Sad ...even at that time i thought she was too pretty to die Wink

I remember seeing Star Wars when it first came out in 1977- from that point I wanted to be an astronaut-lol!

Other than that, I don't think I liked many movies that came out during my childhood- unless you count "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" cartoons as movies- which were awesome and I think better than the live-action remakes.

I think alot of good movies started to be made in the 1980's when I was a teen.

Hmm....The Hobbit...was that the one with all the cool songs, like 'Down Down to Goblin Town' and 'The Greatest Adventure'? I loved that one, too.

JRR Tolkien rules.

The late 70's-early 80's brought alot of awesome fantasy movies- "Excaliber", "The Last Unicorn", "The Dark Crystal" just to name a few.

I was more into the story that the songs in the "Hobbit".

I liked A Night at the Roxbury as a teenager, and still do. Hilariously stupid!

The Return to Oz was one of my most favorite, childhood movies. It scared the heck out of me, but I loved watching it. The part where the witch walks down a hallway with heads which she chooses to wear each day was too scary. The heads were alive.

I came in here planning to say Disney's Robin Hood, but I see it was all ready mentioned, so let me just second it. Truly, one of Disney's finest.

Time Bandits was also excellent.
