Lower salary, more hours. Consistently. Listed right beside the jobs advertised for both genders which have higher salaries and fewer hours. Surely these folks want to hire women who can do simple arithmetic. They have to change their strategy.

Those jobs want women because they think girls are easier to push around.

This is a woman's lot in this country. For the Koreans as well as the foreigners.

Now the subtle way they have of doing it I get. When you are already hired and the work piles on and the perks the teacher in former years told you about just don't arrive, that's nice, hidden sexism. But the blatant -we are paying you less for more work because we place less value on you in our society please come to my hogwon- that is irritating. Especially when there are better jobs advertised right beside theirs I have an equal chance of getting. I can just see the blank, ever so slightly condescending face of whoever wrote that advertisement and I just want to kick him/her in that face. Or just guarantee somehow they never find a teacher ever ever ever again for anything. Even for things like directions to the washroom or how to open an internet account- no one will teach them anything ever again. Argh!

Maybe they really don't want to hire women who can do simple arithemetic.

At the same time, remember these are people who evidently feel that for whatever reason, based upon gender, a man can't possibly fill the role in question, so reasoning isn't exactly their strong suit.
