I like sexy women dancing sexily, but at the risk of coming off as prudish, I don't think this kind of ad is appropriate for viewing in subway stations, ie public transportation:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3jIHNwXEHc&hl=ko

The way she's dressed, dancing, and the camera angle reminds me of the first minute or so of a strip show. I know sex sells in Canada as well, but I don't think a video like this would fly there if it was played in public places. Also, does anyone know if Koreans are upset about this (like they were about that Calvin Klein ad in Myeong-dong)?

There's another commercial with the same girl(?) that's even more provocative on the subway platform.

I have not heard of any complaints from Korean newspapers.

I don't think the model is particularly attractive, but I prefer a woman dancing in a sexy and somewhat more adult way to women wearing tiny pink clothes and acting like little girls. I find that a little creepy and a more negative depiction of women than the soju ad.

This is niceuh, but not really apropes for everyday consumption. Kids are getting sexualized a little early these days and this kind of stuff is a huge factor.

Lol...I talked about this on Facebook: this commercial is indeed too provocative, even for me (a person who's not usually bothered by this stuff). I think it's the placement more than anything...the girl is pretty hot and you can't look away. In that sense, it's kind of offensive.

The silence is indeed deafening; I haven't heard a peep about this ad in the Korean papers.

That's the thing...this ad runs like 24/7. If it were played at night or something I'd be less bothered.

As far as the sexuality in it...it's not sexy or erotic or even provocative...it's just smutty and guttural.

Meh, wake me up when she takes her top off.

She may be trying to be sexual, but it doesn't really work. Too mechanical.

I don't mind seeing Shin Min Ah's 20 ft long "J" soju ad on Seoul buses with her bum in the air a bit.

At heart though, those are not my brands of soju.

It's pretty sekshee I guess, but nothing to get in a fuss over.

I could see it getting annoying after repeated views.

I kept thinking those animated sparkles put in post-production looked like little farts coming from her skinny bum.

Kind of a turn off. And what's that she says in the middle, "You don't know the cool shot dance?"

Then she farts her way though said dance.

its on par with the music videos that get shown in the subway sometimes. If this was america in the 80s or 90s she'd be wearing the standard issue beer-commercial bikini.

Cool commercial...I dig it.

I wouldn't say its on par with the beer girl commercials of the 80's or 90's of the west from a style perspective, this one has way too much of a Korean flavour to it. A little more style, cuteness than the rather large breasted, street walking mamas of America.

But, ya, no more slutty than anything produced elsewhere...probably much less than elsewhere.

It's about time too, damn it!!!

The commercial that shows the Korean guys reaction to it is classic...this is the kinda Korea I like.

Koreans have a playful and cute way about them that westerners just don't get....and I like it.

Agreed! Doesn't really seem that much different than the Maria Carey, Brittany, or Beyonce commercials that air back home. Only with some cute music and a cute smile instead of an "I'm going to eat you alive boy" look on their face.

And thankfully, they found a model that doesn't have chopstick legs!!

Of course, I guess many Koreans would consider her fat!

All she does is wear ultra-mini skirts/shorts. Oh Korea, that's so seck-shi. Reminds me of "FINE, you are not a *beep*, but you are wearing a *beep*'s uniform..."

I agree with that poster saying Korea's sexualizing them younger and younger. That 15-year old girl from 2NE1 grinding/shaking her ass/pole dancing/whatever she does.

Korea Scandalous!

Good grief. Her dancing is terrible Shocked

I'm no expert on this stuff, but it seems like this ad took about 5 minutes to make. Still, I'm going to go back and watch it for a fourth time. She is sekshee. Embarassed
