|
|
I know I could probably find the answer in here, but I'm not sure what to search for in the search function. If I am completing a contract and then changing schools, is my new school required to pay for an airplane ticket, even though I'm already in country? I thought the law was one round trip ticket per contract, but perhaps I'm wrong.
Anyone? Thanks in advance. |

Your not making sense!!!! Get a grip.
Your initial school pays for your airfare. Not the imaginary next school. |

Depends who your contract is with. Public school or Hagwon? Most contracts give you a cash allowance, once they've sighted the boarding passes & airline tickets.

Article 11 (Entrance Allowance/Exit Allowance) ① Upon beginning the Term of Employment, the Employee shall receive a 1,300,000 Korean Won (KRW) Entrance Allowance. The Entrance Allowance is not offered to Employees who are renewing their contract. For the first six (6) months of the Term of Employment, the Entrance Allowance of 1,300,000 Korean Won (KRW) shall be considered a loan to support the Employee's entrance into Korea. If the Employee receives a medical examination administered by EPIK, the cost of the medical examination shall be deducted from the 1,300,000 Korean Won (KRW) Entrance Allowance. |
Oh, & the search function on Daves ESL is almost useless. I googled the above. |

dragon777 chill out dude. I was making sense, but maybe you didn't understand the question. My initial school DID pay my airfare, but I was asking as to whether or not my next school is required to pay some kind of reimbursement seeing as I won't need a plane ticket.
chris_J2 It's a hagwon, and there is nothing in the documentation I've seen so far about airfare. I'll ask them, but I felt like it was a little too early in the process to be bringing things like that up. Thanks for your help. |

That's actually up to your new school and you can negotiate it in if you want. Sometimes they will just offer, other times you will be given a 300,000won stipend to cover moving expenses. Just depends on the new contract and your agreement with your new school. |

Schools are not required to pay any airfare, except they must pay your airfare out of the country if you can't at the end of your contract or if you are fired (and can't pay). This is the guarantee they sign with immigration to get you your E2 visa.
Other than that it is subject to negotiation. Most won't pay for imaginary trips except for EPIK with their entry and exit allowances. But if a Hagwon wants you and you actually flew home they may cover that.
If you require a visa run the Hagwon should pay for that. If they won't, don't take the job, they are broke. |
