Hi guys
I was wondering if you would be able to share some ideas about any class-based ESL games you might think would be useful for high school students.
As an example, I have been playing 20 Questions for the past few days and the kids have loved it. The English level of the students is low so I need basic game ideas.
If anyone has a good internet source for middle school games im sure those would be suitable after a few tweaks. |

Have you tried http://teachingrecipes.com ?
Just hit the "game" or "middle school" tag on the right and you'll have a large list. Of course, if you search EFL Classroom with "games" you'll get tons.
My fav. game is just a simple use of post its. Brainstorm 6-8 of the lessons vocab words. On a post it, students draw the picture/write the vocab. word that finishes the teacher's target lang.
Ex. animals.
Target language - "I would never kiss a/an ...."
Target question - "Which animal would you never kiss?"
Students walk around the class trying to find their matches. If some is a match - they link arms and continue finding more matches. After, debrief by asking - "Who here would never kiss a ...."
Can be used for any type of vocabulary. It's active, the student's use their opinions, it's fun and the repetition makes them learn the vocab/grammar.
