I live in Haebanchon, up the hill/across from Indigo's. The other day I see a sign posted that there's going to be road construction, we apologize, etc. Greaaaaat.
I work an afternoon position. Stay up late and get up at ten. Yesterday at nine, it felt like there were jackhammers in my room. The whole apartment shaking. It's beyond loud... it's like someone is shaking me and screaming at me as I'm trying to sleep. But... nine o'clock, okay, whatever... close enough.
Today it's 7:15!!! Jesus. So now the government is going to decide when everyone in my neighborhood sleeps? How can they possibly do this?? |

I believe they're legally not allowed to start until 9, but unless anybody complains to the 구 office, that's ignored. |

Again, I just don't see how they can do this. What if someone works nights and depends on sleeping on mornings/days? Um... sorry, but you can't sleep for the next month and a half...
The number to issue complaints is 710 3405 9 (I guess 9 is the extension...??). I beg everyone who happens to be in my neighborhood (there are lots of whiteys around) and anyone who has a spare minute, to please call and complain. Me and everyone who works in a Hakwon and happens to depend on being able to sleep a bit on mornings... we're really having our lives affected by this. |

Believe it or not, I don't think there are any laws regarding the times for construction work. Where I live, they were doing construction work on the road outside our apartment building. They didn't start until 10pm and carried on until 4am. The road in question is a very busy one with a lot of bus routes, so daytime construction would cause serious traffic upsets for miles around.
My gf called the police and they said there was no law against it. |

My gf's place was next to a construction site, which luckily is now finished, and they worked 24 hours on it. There may be a law somewhere on road construction hours, but in practice you are lucky they're at least giving you a few hours to sleep. |

Anyone else have an obnoxious deok salesman that screams, "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" at odd hours during the day peddling his disgusting rice snacks?
Have you thought about investing in ear plugs? That seems like a pretty simple solution. |

I wear earplugs, put the pillow over my head, close all the doors and windows, cover myself in blankets... I guess I didn't make it clear just how loud this is.
After hearing a few stories on here, though... guess I don't have it as bad as some. Man... just hate this kind of thing. |

they do this in America too. I've had construction outside my apartment in Boston starting at 6:30 am.
At least you are in Korea and they seem to be quick at construction. There are three new furniture places on my street that were finished in under 7 days. |

No, but those talking cars start driving around screaming their advertisements around 7 am. |

Reminds me of the bloody fruit and vegetable truck that drives around my town early in the morning with the loud speaker announcing what it's selling. Honestly I think that thing should be illegal. |

I never understood why, once they've parked outside an apt building and broadcasted it for a minute and everyone in a 2 mile radius knows they're there and what they're selling - why don't they bloody well turn it off for a while!
We know you're there! We know your yellow mini melons are masisoyo!
