If I Should Fall from Grace with God-The Pogues
and
The Mothers of Invention-Freak Out

I got both of these albums when I was in about 8 or 9th grade, which was a huge turning point in my musical tastes. I also got a great set of Iran-Contra Scandal trading cards with them. Huge year for cool gifts. Have none of the three unfortunately.

Heard "New Year's Day" on MTV while at a friend's barbeque...went out and got "War" immediately after. I love U2, but my brother is probably the only guy on Earth that loves U2 more than Bono (or his accountant).

For people that love music, the distinction in thread titles should be made: the first albums you ever loved, the albums you love most now, or something to that effect.

This is going back some, but albums like '19NaughtyIII' by Naughty By Nature, and '93 til Infinity' by Souls of Mischief, have a real nostalgic appeal to me. I was around 17 at the time and I lived for hip-hop. I used to walk around with big baggy jeans, oversized t-shirts and my hair in braids. Man, I looked like such a tit but at the time I loved it.

'93 til Infinity is GREAT! One of my fave debut albums by any artist/group of artists.

Tommy by The Who: the music is so well-done and it tells an awesome story about a dude whose senses cut him off from the external world.

This post is soooo GROSS!!!

Way to ask a trippy, how old are you let's see what era you adore/relate to question?... J/k Relax... you know I am older for using the outdated acronym j/k riiiiight???

Seriously though... lemme guess... people from England hmmm, I wonder what you picked? J/K... OP niiiice... the youth end of good grunge minus Nirvana, Soundgarden, L-7, Alice in Chains... it's ok for liking grunge pop sweety... you were a young teen Girl at the time.

Joy Division.... good stuff.

Thread should be retitled... What Album Were You In Love With In High School???... and Please Tell Me How You Have Expanded Your Horizons Since Then.

No need to get angry... I was influenced by MTV too... just a little before you hun. Nostalgia is good but don't be so depressed about turning 30 soon Wink... I mean, for having turned 30 recently.

This is actually a very difficult question for me.

Do I choose the first rock album I loved when I was 13? Even though I know it's trash now, I see how it brought me to stuff that doesn't actually suck.
Do I choose the music I currently live for? 15 years down the road, it could be as meaningless as the Spice Girls to me.
It's really hopeless. I can't answer your question, especially in the cool way that combines classic with 90s with recent bands. I can say my most recent top 3 albums are:
Destroyer- Streethawk:A Seduction
Destroyer- This Night
The Microphones- The Glow pt 2

Were these influential? Err maybe :/ But obviously not in my upbringing. The Microphones just helped me realize my love for science. Destroyer is just amazing in a way that makes me feel dumb as though words fail me. Sorry if OT

I think you have it wrong.. its not about what album you were in love with in High school.. but more like what albums gave you the best memories and greatest feelings at that moment in time..
in 1996 I found an album from the 70s
in 2000 I found an Album in a foreign language which I dont understand but rate it as one of my all time favorites..
2005 I found an album from 1940's which is amazing..

In highschool I listened to all kinds of music.. but I really didnt understand 85% of what I was listening to. it just sounded good..
wasnt until I experienced life more and grew up that I really began to understand music..
