Well, the unemployment rate--U3--is now at 10.2 percent.
The unemployment rate--U6--is now at 17.5 percent.
I would personally like to welcome the economic refugees who will be flooding here in the future.
Welcome to the next Great Depression. |

Hey Mr. 'doom & gloom'... a depression combined with the prevailing winds and bad farming practices in China = yellow dust bowl.
Personally, if I start to see more than the usual parade of the 'great unwashed, 20-somethings-with-newly-minted-B.A.s-in-psychology' flooding into K-land, I will set sail... and not on a Korean-built ship. |

asmith is right. Flipping burgers at McD's or playing hangman in a hoggie? Hmmm, what's a 24 year old uni grad to do? Tough call. One thing for sure. Koreans now have the edutainers by the you know what. And they're going to enjoy every minute of it. |

I think it might go the other way around. As the Western Economies continue to get worse, more certified teachers will come over. They probably won't last more than a year or two because of the absurdity of the K-Land education system, but there will be a flood of them. You can already see this starting to happen. It'll probably be good for the K-Land education system (less of these greasy 20 year-olds with BA's like me ), but bad for the poor people who got MA's and now have to teach 1st graders how to say "cat, rat, mat" all day long. |

You may be right. But however it pans out, I shall enjoy my retirement. |

What's wrong with Korean built ships? They've got their construction down-pat. |

Only if you believe the crap Discovery Channel Asia broadcasts. A couple of months ago I had the privilege of 'tagging along' for sea trials on a new, bulk carrier. It was enlightening to say the least. |

I heard that Korean public schools are not accepting people without a TEFL/TESL certification or prior experience now. True? False?
If so, we'll see fewer new 20-somethings with Psych degrees. |
