However, I fell there should be a comma there.
"We sit at the dinner table with our partner, in cold silence."
Maybe not necessary, but it helps the sound of the sentence dramatically. |

Because this is the only one that seems to represent the individual, the others are group oriented situations (more to the point, how the group feels). |
