The positive tests in Indiana came just days after U.S. officials successfully negotiated an end to one of the more damaging commercial effects of swine flu a six-month ban on pork imports to China. Officials expect the Chinese to reopen their import markets, offering pork producers an opportunity to export to what was their fastest growing market before the swine flu outbreak. |
Hmmm, just days after, huh? |

The problem is with mass-commercialised methods of raising livestock in less than optimum conditions.
It was no different with the bird flu. Despite farmers doing their best to blame wild birds, it was their own insanitary poultry farms where the disease was centred. |

Yes that is true. The article also said they're developing a vaccine for the pigs. That on top of all the other junk they pump them full of would make me think twice about eating it. |

Well, personally, I don't think that slaughterhouses can ever really be sanitary.
You'd think that bird flu, swine flu, and mad cow disease - combined with this recent report by the World Bank linking 51% of greenhouse gases to livestock - would persuade more people that the meat industry in general is basically not good for human health or the environment.

You can't get swine flu from eating pork, that's not how it's spread. Even if the pig had h1n1 and you ate it you wouldn't get sick. The pork industry is freaking out here in the states trying to tell people this. |

Finally, a pig comes down with swine flu!
I believe those are the first cases. |
