Just remember - with the lights out, it's less dangerous.
And in the immortal words of maddona - 'Hey you don't be silly, put a condom on your willy.'
Seriously, though, I'm curious. The whole debate on the dmdv or whatver...
When boxoxhocolates or the other female posters speak about promiscuity I don't think they're talking about being a nympho or going at it with a different or multiple partner every weekend right?
I mean lets put it into perspecive here. My perception was she was like, okay get laid without being in a relationship every now and then...
Am I right...
How are you guys defining 'promiscuity?' |

The problem with the 'promiscuous act' is that all too often both of you are a little drunk. It seems that we need Dutch courage just to get to a point where we are able to put the proposition to the other - to ask for it.
And there are other problems with not knowing your partner so well a) you don't know each other's body and may not be comfortable with yours vis a vis the other, b) it's often rushed or drunkenly done, c) it is often done in a place/location one of the partners is not familiar with.
If these issues are done away with the actual pleasure of the act would be much greater.
As it is the pleasure really isn't that great.
In a monogomous relationship the sex is heaps different: One is not afraid where the tongue roams - not gonna pick up any strange diseases or bugs (I think this is the biggest issue) ... No strangers known to one of the partners are going to barge in or knock on the door (or who want to kill you for touching their property!) ...
etc etc. |

| It's the old existential dilemma: the thrill of the unknown -vs- the comfort of familiarity. |

OH SNAP, BURN!!!
Promiscuity is fun at certain times in life, not so fun in others; diversify, adapt, react. |

DWAEJI, I want to start off by saying we are BFF; HOWEVER, I do not agree with your current lifestyle of diy and "the lights are off, it's k".
As your BFF, I find this behavior disturbing and altogether destructive; I make it a point to not sleep with less than a 7, or obey the rule of "Well, if I wouldn't do it with my contact lenses in...." I will not comment on the number of sexual conquests because I feel guilty about it sometimes . I guess I'm subconsciously catholic?
Regardless, take heed, and DWAEJI + TRIBAN = BFF 4 LYFE! |

promiscuity can be good if you do it for the right reasons.
I think most promiscuous people, men and women, are doing it because they think it's cool. just like twelve year olds who smoke cigs. They think they should, especially men, they think that it is expected of them to always want sex and to pursue sexual conquest. I have even avoided instigating what probably would've been a meaningful relationship because I thought I should be chasing more tail because of my age. Of course I have also avoided sleeping around to preserve a less than meaningful relationship soooo yeah, promiscuity is alright.
btw, anywhere from twenty to forty percent of sexually active adults has herpes antibodies in their bloodstream. Look around the room and count how many probably have herpes! (most don't know because most will never have an outbreak) |
