If you are a current SMOE employee and you renew you contract, do you still get the entire 2.6 million W in flight money?

I thought I read somewhere the full 2.6 million does not apply to teachers already in Korea.

Have a look at your contract, which I'll assume is the exact same as mine minus salaries. It says that you get 2 mill for renewing and 1.3 exit allowance if you don't renew.

Yeah, thanks for clearing that up for me. I was hired last spring so I still am on the old contract.

That means you won't be getting cash, you'll have to book a GTR ticket through Asiana or Korean Air. The Aug/Sept 2009 teachers are the first ones who will get the $$$ when they finish their contracts next year.

Just be aware - when using the GTR process, you should get your boarding pass early for any domestic flights booked
(within your home country). Allow 20 minutes extra for the airline employee to find your booking... because Korean Air's (not sure about Asiana) computer system is encrypted differently than international standards.

Yeah, then you're on the old contract so as the other poster said you have to use GTR. My bf just called smoe about this asking for the 2 mill insteand of GTR but they said no, so he has to either book GTR or hold his breath for a quick reimbursement (not likely).

Cruisemonkey, I've booked two GTRs and never had a hassle...just saying.
