Anyone found Cantonese chinese food. I'm Chinese from NYC and I really miss dim sum, hong kong style chinese food and others. In a weird way I even miss Chicken and Broccoli with pork fried rice (thats right non asians, its not really authentic Chinese).

There is a restaurant near Kyobo bookstore. I saw 2 ducks hanging, the going rate for Peking duck was 30-40k (decent price) but the place was empty and the duck looked really dry. The menu was as close to cantonese style food.

Yeah thats right, I want to see "Cha shu" (roast pork) hanging behind the store window along with roast pork, roast duck, soy sauce chicken, and other stuff that would make me cry. If you see any restaurant that is remotely close to it, please let me know.

It's quite sad when I found out that the Koreanized Chinese food wasn't all that cracked up to be. I figured, Korea was closer to Hong Kong, Singapore and China we would get to see more authentic Chinese food than in NYC. I was wrong.

Sigh...

I go to HK several times a year just for that... Cantonese food.

Seriously, I think there are enough of us to open a restaurant here.

Seriously please do. It's a ri-goshdamn-diculous that Seoul is one of the only places in the world without an honest to god Fujian/Guangdong Chinatown.

Yes I do believe so.

My GF took me to a real ghetto part of namguro and there were a bunch of Chinese store fronts with food under plastic wrap. I'm almost positive it was gnahp. The yuw jah gwai I'm certain of. Unless there's a Korean pastry that looks like it.

Sorry where is Namguro? I'm in Ilsan and all I see is black sauce with noodles called Jajong (sp) and sweet pork

edit: nevermind. Smile

Okay, I get out of Namguro and I try to find the ghetto?

I went to exit 3. walked straight to an alley/market place. Not much traffic goes through there, it's not an actual road, more like a pedestrian walk way. You'll see a whole bunch of chinese signs/shops/restaurants (chinese characters atleast, not sure if they're Chinese run) right outside namguro station.

The restaurant I ate at was pretty crappy, so I wouldn't suggest going there.

The buffet at the Shilla hotel has Peking duck, Cha shu and roast pork and some other stuff. Its expensive, especially if you're only going for the Chinese food, but its a nice treat every once in a while.

Hey guys while researchign places to go i found this blog:

http://blog.naver.com/ilhai?Redirect=Log&logNo=120069920106

Looks like the real deal, I will post more later. If you go to Naver and type in 건대중식 and just kind of screw around with what comes up you can find a good range of stuff. I think Kondae is probably a good bet for just walking around and finding something.

EDIT this will all be in Korean though so you'll need a little ability to get thru this.

Their 鱼香肉丝 looks pretty good, would not mind a bit of that action. If you paired it with some 宫爆鸡丁 and maybe some 羊肉串 and 豆腐串 then for desert some sago and mango pudding or maybe sago and sweet potato pudding. Delicious
