Thanks - but I got to it too late and missed today's fight (and somehow I thought that the Pac-Cotto fight was today also ...)

Here's the result (which might be a little surprising to some ...)
http://boxing.fanhouse.com/2009/11/07/nikolay-valuev-vs-david-haye-live-round-by-round-updates/

But there's still the Fedor fight today for MMA fans ...

I just found out that it will be carried in Korea on SBS Sports - they seem to be starting their broadcast now ...

i think cotto might get the upset. manny's training camp has been disrupted according to freddie roach. had a lot of crap going around after the flooding in manila. i don't think he's gonna come in the best shape he could be.

Pacquiao is the faster of the two, but it won't be the big advantage in this fight, as it was against end-of-career De La Hoya.

And Pacquiao can hit, but Cotto won't be as easy to hit as Hatton, nor will he fold-up like a lawn chair.

I think that Cotto will box-and-move at first, and then start to pour on punishing pressure. Ref stops the fight in a late round... let's say the 9th.

EDIT: Didn't know there were so many fight fans on Dave's.

Caught up with the 24/7 episodes. Seems like they kind of changed the style of show, which is good because I was kinda getting sick of the overused slow-motion montages. Didn't like how they focused on the two drama queens in Pacquiao's camp. It was like a freaking soap opera.

As for the fighters themselves, it seems Cotto is much more focused than Pacquiao. He started training a month before Pacquiao, and didn't have to deal with the hurricane, the drama in his camp, or the movies like Pacquiao. Then again, all of this could be just sensationalized bullcrap made to look like more than it really is. It was pretty cool that Pac was sparring with Castillo. It's a shame they didn't show more of the sparring.

Based on what little they show, it seems that Santiago is focusing more on Cotto's technique and strategy. If he is able to clean up some of Cotto's flaws, this may work for Roach's strategy of focusing on those flaws/habits. One thing I noticed was the amount of turning. Cotto already makes good use of his feet (covers a lot of ground with his jab and knows how to turn his opponents very well), and it looks like Santiago is trying to improve this skillset even more. He may not be as fast as Pacquiao, I think Cotto uses his footwork more effectively.

For me, it will be really interesting to see how Cotto deals with Pacquiao's intensity.

Does anyone know exactly when coverage for this starts? Also is it going to conflict with the UFC, and which chanel is that on? Ive tried having a look for a schedule on the KBS website with no luck.

Something is up. The KBSN website usually posts the schedule but there is no mention of this fight and its only a couple days away. This is bad news. Perhaps they're not showing a live foreign broadcast because they already aired Dawson vs Johnson last week. I guess I could download the fight but its not the same.

Pac by KO/TKO

Everybody thought Pac didn't have the power to KO Ricky Hatton. We were wrong. People don't think he'll have the power to knock out Cotto. They will be proven wrong.

strange. i just checked the programing schedule. The fight it would seem is at 1 AM tonight. Don't know why it is one so late. Or if it is the same fight. All it says is "boxing speacial". Hope it is the right one. Well happy watching either way.

Its out on Torrent for anybody who hasnt seen it. There was no Korean coverage of the fight, which is very strange considering they aired Dawson vs Johnson.

Spoiler Warning! for people who haven't seen it yet.

Pacquaio is truly a monster in the ring. I take back what I said about his footwork or his speed and power at welterweight. At this point, I consider him a full-blown welterweight. His right hook off the jab is amazing. Personally, this fight puts the Marquez matches in a new light; it shows how truly good Marquez is.

A few thoughts on what I saw, especially in context of a potential Mayweather fight.

I don't think the fight should have been stopped. Cotto wasn't taking much punishment at the time it was. If anything, the fight should have been stopped when Cotto was getting thrashed around earlier in the fight. At least give him the chance to hear the final bell Bayless.

Cotto's tentative offensive and lack of jabs cost him. The latter puzzled me because his jab was working but just like in the Margarito fight, Cotto stopped throwing it. Would he have won? I'm not sure, but I think he would've done better.

Pacquiao was truly effective punching with Cotto when Cotto opened up his own offense. He wasn't as good counter-unching or breaking through Cotto's defense. The amount of clean shots dropped when Cotto started playing defensive even though he was battered and Pacquiao utilized feints and different angles. This isn't a good sign that Pac's offense will be effective against Mayweather.

Another thing is that the battered Cotto was still able to land counter punches, albeit they were weak shots. I wonder how this factor will play out against Maweather. On another note, I used to think Cotto would given Mayweather one of his toughest fights, but now I think Floyd would handle Cotto just like he handled everybody else who tried to pressure him.

While I am amazed at Pac's performance, I think this fight showed off his physical power but his technical ability was lacking in comparison. I don't think Roach and Pac should use the commonly used strategy of pressuring Mayweather. Whatever this might mean against Mayweather, I just want to see them fight now.

The best moment of that fight was Pac doing about 30-40 seconds of rope-a-dope in the 4th round and then exploded out for a knock-down.

I thought Pacquiao was great, but I wish he could finished the fight. That stoppage was BS. Not sure why the ref jumped in so quickly at that point.

Is a Pac/Mayweather fight inevitable now? What weight would they fight at? Mayweather is so good. It would be hard for Pac to get still further out of his weight class and beat Floyd. I'd be cheering for Pac all the way, but Floyd is a machine.

I cant see Mayweather taking the fight on anything but his terms, which will most probably require Pacquaio to move up a bit.

Pacquiao was great, and it was a brilliant fight. I have to commend Cotto's resilience and heart, but he was truly outclassed.
