|
|
I was offered a job at a uni that is much better than my current one and told that I would need to provide a criminal record check in a couple of weeks. The new job would start in March, 2010.
I have a multiple re-entry permit and F-2-1 Visa, both of which are good until summer, 2010. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that he CRC is only needed for visas (like the E2) that expire as soon as the current employment is terminated. I wonder if the uni person who told me that I'll need the CRC was aware that I have the F-2-1 and multiple re-entry permit.
Any thoughts?
BTW, snarky comments to read the sticky guide that's just above my post are NOT thoughts......as if anyone who just wants a simple answer to a simple question has time to sift through 10 pages of largely erroneous comments that date back to April, 2008! Some of us actually do have lives and better ways to spend our time so, if you don't have a straight and simple "thought," then just move along and try to impress somebody else with your enormous wit. |

CRC isnt needed to obtain your F2 visa
CRC request is at the discretion of the employer.
If they ask for one - you need to show them one.
You are getting a job not a new visa - you need to give them what they ask for (regardless of visa status)

That makes sense, thanks. You reminded me that when I enrolled in my MATESOL program, the uni required that I provide a CRC--and I'm just a student at that uni!
Thanks again. |

Government doesn't require it. Employer does. |
