My USA passport will be expiring in a little over a year. I am currently negotiating a contract with EPIK and my passport is good until after my contract, but the catch is I would like to stay in Korea for more than one year so should I get a new passport good for 10 years BEFORE going to Korea?
NOTE: This is passport expiring and not a Visa. Any suggestions?
Also is it legal to get a new passport while your old is still valid? |

You can get a new passport while you are in Korea. You do that through your embassy. Just make sure you go to immigration after getting your new passport to get them to make a notation of your new passport number so that there aren't any problems the next time you leave the country. Your visa is linked to your passport.
I don't know about the US, but with a Canadian passport you can apply for a new one within a year of the expiry date. You guys are lucky you get ten years...we only get five! |
