| I remember the Spanish teacher I had in high school. Everyone treated him well and with respect. Maybe you shouldn't generalize too much in the future. |

I treated all my language teachers with respect. I loved languages, actually. French (ongoing since preschool), Hebrew (elementary school), Spanish (high school), Italian (CEGEP), Chinese (University)... I remember not liking French cause I felt like I was forced to study it (up until CEGEP), but I still respected the teachers. Except for one French teacher in CEGEP, but he really wasn't a good teacher at all. And I didn't openly disrespect him or anything, I just put in no effort in the class (and laughed with other students at how he always wore the exact same pants every day. Either he had one, or a closet full of identical ones).
I still keep in touch with some of my language teachers, and would say hi to the rest if I saw them in the street and recognized them. I remember my 6th grade French homeroom teacher.. he was awesome! Taught us through songs and all sorts of stuff. Actually made it fun for once.
But maybe it is karma. My students here respect me too. More than I can say for French public school students. |

| I was in French Immersion, and so all through my schooling, half of my teachers were French, and taught us in French.....I was fine with it. I am now fluently bilingual, so I am also grateful. |

| I remember my French teachers. Most were pretty nice, I never made fun of their accents, but I'll admit, in College, I was probably about as motivated as the Koreans learning English. |

Haha.. I've always thought the same thing! I'm sure people treated their high school language teachers with respect, but I distinctly remember elementary French teachers getting none from the us (grade 4~6) because we couldn't care less. And in that sense I think you nailed it... as far as I'm concerned |

My grade nine French teacher has a nervous breakdown in front of the class and ran out crying - never to be seen again. I'm way less 'sensitive' than her. That's not to say my patience (and sometimes what's left of my sanity) isn't tried by 1076, middle school monkey-boys. |

My French teacher couldn't speak French. We went to Quebec and he couldn't help anybody.
At the end of the year some students killed his cat and put it in his desk... the guy didn't even react! Just closed the drawer and dealt with it after classes.
Anyway, I will avoid this situation by not owning a cat... |
