Is it true that Yeungnam University is hiring 25 new teachers because the teachers were fired (not -resigned) for signing a petition to oust the department head?

wow. So, basically, 25 teachers had a problem with 1 director. But, the 25 teachers were not offered a renewal and the 1 director is still there.

One would assume that if 25 people have the same problem with 1 person, then that one person is the problem and not the 25. Wow. This does speak poorly of this university.

Yeung who? Why would anyone want to work there?

I wonder what students will think when they hear about those circumstances. I wouldn't want my child to attend there.

I guess those teachers actually thought they would fire a professor (I'm assuming tenured) in Korea.

Rookie mistake.... err... 25 rookie mistakes I guess.

Also, to the poster who said we would band together and "show them" how hard it would be to fill the jobs... I think that's about as likely as the moon crashing into the earth tomorrow. You will never get teachers to not take that job. It'll be filled no problem. The new teachers might not be all-stars...but I bet it'll get filled in no time.

There ya go. It's how the game works here. Student learning and development takes a back seat here....despite the proselytizing...lol

Well, I was told there was 2 sides to this story, so I'm not going to comment any further. I'll let Joe Walsh take it from here:

Having an MA in TESOL doesn't mean they're not rookies...

Their degree clearly doesn't show their understanding of administrative operations in this country...now that they got fired I'm sure they learned something, after that learning, they don't have to be called rookies anymore.

They can now officially say, "Trust me, I've seen it with my own eyes, it's happened to me before..."

Those are words a rookie can never utter. Smile

Seriously what kind of spoilt brats think a petition would change things. Hello people.

1. Life is NOT a movie
2. Most Koreans would rather 25 westerners were to die in a bus crash than 1 Korean in a car crash.
3. MA's in tossing line dancing does not give you leverage
