|
|
Okay, so as always leaving things to the last minute. I fly tomorrow afternoon.
Flying Glasgow to Dubai with Emirates and allowed 30kg baggage
Then from Dubai to Seoul, again with emirates and 30kg
At Seoul i change to Asiana Airlines and still fussy but i THINK it says 15/20kg.
Now my question is, am i going to get to Seoul and they go erm, you owe us a million quid due to having the heaviest bags ever OR will they even notice? My flights are all on the same ticket so i suppose i won't need to check in again?
HELP!
It's not that i haven't flown long haul before it's just that i haven't had to change onto a domestic flight where the baggage allowance is different.
If anyone has ANY kind of info i'd be really grateful.
THANK YOU |

If your stopovers are all on the same ticket, Emirates will charge you/let you take stuff out when you check in for the first leg - ***IF Asiana requires it***. If you clear through the first gate, you're golden. Airlines don't charge extra once you're checked in. |

Long haul, they are usually pretty good. I think you have had experiences with easyjet? Don't worry about it - you'll be fine! |

Just spoke to Emirates who told me i could have 30kg on each flight. Then i spoke to Asiana Airlines who told me i was only allowed 15kg on their flight from seoul to Busan. AWESOME! So looks like i pack a stupidly small bag to fly to Korea for a year of living n working and send boxes over which costs a fortune.
Good times.
Advice to everyone, CHECK THE BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE ON EVERY FLIGHT! |

You seem like a person who gets stressed out easily - I remember you from your stressed out post about your future pension contributions - I am giving you 4 months in the bando before you flee for Incheon!
However - back to the present...
Have you ever flown long haul? Obviously not.
Never in all my flights to Asia - and there has been quite a few - have I been stung with a different baggage tarrif on a connecting domestic flight after coming in from an international, long haul flight.
Stop giving out stupid advice noob and pack for the year. (or at least the 4 months you are going to stick out) And have a safe flight over. |

I have taken the Glasgow to Seoul via Dubai flight with Emirates.
You most likely will need to get your hand luggage weighed as well if you have a small case/bag. It happened to me but I took some stuff out and then later added it after it was weighed. They sign or add some sticker that your bag meets their hand luggage rules.
Never had any problems boarding the flight at Dubai to Seoul. It was plane sailing (if you pardon the pun).
Do you need to check in at Incheon for the Busan flight? |

you could save yourself all this hassle by taking the KTX or bus from seoul to busan, thus not having to worry about the transfer |

I don't think you will be charged but it's only 2USD per kilo for domestic flights. |

Or find out the cost for extra items of checked luggage on the Busan flight.
That way you could pack your 30Kg luggage for Emirates, and take out a pre-packed 15Kg bag for the domestic flight.
You can buy things here, so you don't need to bring everything you need for 12 months. Just take your favourite cereals or food which you may or may not be able to get here. |
