IMO The Shield is garbage...not to compare, but it is hard not to as they both came out at the sametime, but The Wire destroys the Shield. Nothing believable at all about that show...ever see a police station in an old church before? I watched 4 eps and turned it off.
I am surprised Trailer Park Boys did not make the top 30....in fact, seeing as the Shield did and TPB didn't says it all for me.

Negative reply, but honest! Confused

I take back what I said about Californication getting worse, Season 3 Ep. 8 was funny as hell. Rick Springfield cracks me up.

The Wire deserves its spot at the top of this list, or any list for that matter. The show is carefully crafted, perfectly paced, and insanely intelligent. Kind of like that last sentence. Wink

It's Always Sunny in Philly should be mentioned to, for having the artistic courage to do a Danny Devito nude scene, in last week's Christmas Special.

My top 10 (not necessarily best for you elite types, but what I like)

1. Battlestar Galactica (#1 with a bullet... can't wait for Caprica OMG!)

2. Lost
3. Firefly
4. Arrested Development
5. Avatar the Last Airbender
6. Dexter
7. The Sopranos (this was the first half of a course I took at uni)
8. Six Feet Under (this was the second)
9. Weeds (even though this last season wasn't very good)
10. Family Guy (this show is so easy to just watch and not think. The reruns are totally watchable no matter how many times you've seen an episode)

I'm really a sucker for continuous story lines. I don't know if I can or ever will watch a non-animated sitcom ever again. Also, there are a lot of shows I like, but I didn't include anything I haven't watched in it's entirety (thus far).
I also wanted to say Fringe but I think I should wait for the full 2nd season to be fair. I also wish Heroes was only one season of awesome instead of several half-seasons of suck.

List?

South Park, Simpsons, Curb your enthusiasm. Breaking bad maybe, if I got to see more.

That's all I know.

Oh yeah the American Office.

Man, I'm out of touch. "Extras" looked funny too. "Sunny in Philly" if I actually saw some of it.

That's my top ten.

Wait, saw a few 'Califoriduchov' ...crap, but boobs, so a few.

If we allow for shows like Firefly, Undeclared or Freaks and Geeks; all series that lasted only one season despite being amazing, then I think we should add:

ROME

Rome has to be one of the best (and most expensive) shows to come out of this decade.

As for The Wire, I tried to watch it and I found it boring. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

At the top of my list I would have to put Arrested Development. That show is GOLD.

I agree with many of the shows that were placed in the Top 25 list, as I think I have seen about 80% of them.

Deadwood would probably be up there in the top 5 for me. HBO produces some awesome stuff.

Weeds and The Shield: good early starts, but shows that held on way too long and had way too many crappy episodes to make it into the top 25.

Sons of Anarchy is an awesome show. If it had stopped at season 1 like the shows I mentioned above, it would get legendary status. The second season though has added a lot of unnecessary drama and hasn't been as enjoyable.
