You must be new here dude. Welcome to Korea. Just let me relieve you of your emotional baggage and some of your preconceptions about what it means to be a Westerner in Korea Rolling Eyes

That's not a nice thing to say about anyone, particularly on this forum and very soon, someone will come along and smack you upside the head (metaphorically) for daring to raise this issue. It's true too; I started a thread a few of weeks ago about waygooks being unfriendly (I'm new too, but I'm catching up) and within two days it was shut down by the Mods because people couldn't help insulting each other.

Okay, so we've done the prep. Now, listen and repeat:
"It's not the people who are here that are barmy, you're barmy."
"What do you mean I'm barmy, you're the one who's mad you effing so-and-so."
"Where do you get off saying things like that? Why you little..."
"Listen, if you want to act the big man, fine, go ahead. But I should point out that I'm a former US Navy Seal, and I could take you apart in 3 seconds flat"
And so on.

Adjust to it. It's actually quite interesting to meet so many diverse people (not all of whom, I might hasten to add, are insane or even annoying), and if you're mature enough, you can filter out the BS pretty quickly and enjoy yourself a bit quite easily.

Its really funny when you see another waegook and they go out of their way to not make eye contact and try to pretend like they don't see you.

"A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?" - Albert Einstein

I know how you feel, it seems like everyone else is just a little off. On the other hand, I'm sure everyone else feels the same way about me (and you). So, is it more likely that all the other foreigners in Korea are "barmy" or is it just you?

Foreigners are often overworked in Korea and don't get enough nutrients. Leave them alone because you'll be at that point later in the year.

i completely agree with the OP! there seems like there are a lot of crazy western people here, i don't think we're imagining it. however, some people are just crazy enough to be more fun, but that's only in a few of the cases.

Come now, foreigners are no crazier than the general local population. I think this applies anywhere you go.

Both at 90% insane.

The other 10% who are sane look insane because they are a minority.

Because if they were sane, they wouldn't come to Korea in the first place.
