I have a 500,000 to spend on english pop-up and story books...I'd also like to get some good books on TEFL and teaching english in Asia.

Any suggestions....obviously, these should be very low level and peferablly attention getting.

I don't know about picture books and pop-up books but a big pile of children's picture dictionaries is a wonderful thing. I make crosswords with just pictures as clues, give each group a couple of picture dictionaries, and they're off to the races. Many are the possibilities...

Story books:
Pete and Pickles is a great rhythmical book with fantastic illustrations, not really ESL, but any Kindergarten student in the world will love it.

Any book by Eric Carle. My favorite is 'Papa, please get the moon for me'. The illustrations are amazing in all of his books and his stories are simple, yet philosophical and always have a heart-warming theme. the students will be begging to read it over and over again, I promise.

As far as TEFL books, there are so many out there that I couldn't even begin to suggest something. It would depend upon what level, what area - reading, writing, speaking, etc., and what age.

My school went through one of these educational companies who work with setting up English zones. I'll try to get the company name and representative.

OP check your PMs.

For story books, I second any book by Eric Carle. The very hungry caterpillar is awesome.

Other good story books are The story of the little mole (it's about poop so the boys will love it!), and The Gruffulo. I don't know if you can get it as a book but my kids like the old lady who swallowed a fly.

How old are your students?

I would not under any circumstances buy pop-up books. They will be destroyed in an instant.
