So...parking in my neighborhood is pretty much a free-for-all. Where in Korea isn't it? Anyway, last night I come home from work and park, but as I am getting out of the car this gold car pull up and honks at me and tells me that I can't park there. Of course I've seen cars parked there ALL the time, but I didn't feel like fighting with him. But then, after I found another spot further away I am walking back and the dude is parked IN MY SPOT!!! Luckily my buddy saw where he went and I went into the bar and was like "What the hell?" and pointed to his car. My Korean isn't great, but good enough to get the idea. He proceeds to tell me that the space in front of the shop is his (this isn't a parking spot, but just the road) and I explained that the road belongs to the city and not to his shop. Of course there are cars parked in front of EVERYONE'S shop as the neighborhood is nothing but 3 story villas with the top 2 levels being apartments and the ground floor some sort of business.
Anyhow...just griping. |

Wow! I mean WOW! That is probably the best post I have read so far. Simply amazing story. Very compelling stuff. I have heard of crazy stuff happening here, but your story tops them all. I will be telling folks back home about this for months!
Thanks for the post man, keep fighting the good fight! |

In my similar neighborhood, it's just accepted that you don't park in front of someone else's business or home without asking them first. |

There is literally nowhere else to park. And the thing is...every apartment is above a business, so the parking for the housing and for the businesses is the same. As a resident I should have just as much of a right to the street parking as anyone else. |

Generally, we say that sarcasm is hard to detect on the internet.
You my friend, have just broken that rule. |

I was walking towards Costco in Yeungdeunpo and some guy slammed his car door into me when he opened it. I'm talking SLAMMED.
When I turned around to glare at him and see if he would apologize, he just turned away and ran into a nearby building.
Should've ran in there after him, but I smelled hotdogs cooking.
I was probably wrong to have expected an apology--OH WELL.
On the way back, I thought about keying his car, and the I realized how bitter Korea has made me become. |

Could have used some of the suggestions we posted in that thread about the Chairman or Equuis being a jerk to a motorcycle. You're not really bitter. There was provocation and no attempt to apologize for the door and run. |

Yeah, this was a really awesome story. The title should of been, "The Most Fantastic, Awesomest, Incredible Parking Story Known to Man!"
Anyways, I never think twice about keying an idiots car, and if its parked there long enough, I usually come back with a kitchen knife (found at your local market) and slash both of the tires on one side.
Another thing to note- do not listen to any schmuck driving a gold car. |
