Hello everyone,

I'm a US citizen and I'll be traveling to China for a few days for my Christmas holiday. What's the easiest way to get a tourist visa for China? There's a consulate in Seoul but my work schedule makes it hard to make it there during business hours.

Worst case scenario - what happens to those who fly into China without a visa? Shocked

Get it done through a travel agent.

Flying into China without a visa? Haha yeah right. The airline wouldn't let you on the plane.

There's no way to fly into china w/o your visa beforehand.

Lots of travel agents will take care of it for you for a small fee, that's the best way to go. Bewarned the cost of a visa for americans is substantial.

Got mine through Soho travel last year. Pretty fast, less than a week. Cost about 130k or so but the exchange rates are different now so it may be a few more won.

Thanks for the heads up about Soho Travel. They're open on Saturday so I'll stop by and inquire about getting a visa through them.

last i knew you couldn't go to the embassy yourself, they weren't accepting applications. you had to go through a travel agent. probably hasn't changed, but it may have

http://www.chinaemb.or.kr/chn/lsqz/ls_qz/ls_qz_1/t229323.htm
multiple entry visas for americans cost the same as a single entry.
120,000 won for regular 4 day service.
being charged more than 140,000 is total BS.

you won't be charged more than 140,000 for any type of visa if you use one of the agencies on the approved list.
http://kr.china-embassy.org/chn/lsqz/ls_qz/ls_qz_13/t229558.htm
you can complain to the embassy if any of the agencies on the list charge you more than 20,000 above the embassy price.

every type of chinese visa for american passport holders is 120,000 won (plus maximum of 20,000 fee).

all other countries (except romania for some reason) the prices are:
35,000 for single
53,000 for double
70,000 for 6 month multiple
105,000 for 12 month multiple
