I'm interested in the collar. Is the correction done by shock, sound or spray. Also, I have a medium maltese do you think it would fit?
Cheers. |

Should fit a Maltese with lots to spare. It is a static correction (shock) that begins as a tingle, and increases with continued barking. With my dog, it only took a couple of barks, and he was good to go. Eventually your dog won't require the collar.
The correction only happens if there is a vibration detected at the same time as the bark. This prevents extraneous stimuli from triggering a correction (construction noise, another dog's bark, etc.) |

How old is the collar? How often did you have to use it before the problem was corrected? I understand that it may take more or less time depending on the dog, I'm just looking for a ball park figure.
Thanks. |

Our dog didn't bark much, only when he heard someone in the hallway, or when we left the house. The neighbours complained a couple of times, so we bought the collar. We used it for about a month quite regularly when we were in the apartment with the dog, and after he was used to it, when we were out. It only took a couple of times for him to get used to the idea. By the end of the first month, we were able to leave him at home without the collar, and no more problems with the neighbours. The collar is probably a year and a half old, but has been in a drawer of my shoe closet for over a year. The battery is still good. This has been my experience with the collar; yours may be different. |

Considering the age of the collar would you take 40k for it? |

why not buy a collar that doesn't shock your dog. I wouldn't want to shock my dog.
They make citronella spray collars that are just as effective. I have two of them, and they work great.
Any shock is abusive. |

Not to be rude, but isn't spraying citronella into a dogs nose that has an olfactory sense upwards of 10,000 times stronger than a humans nose equally as harsh as a shock? Besides, in my case, my medium breeds noses' have been killed by chili powder, i need the enforcement only DC can provide. |
