cubanlord,
Apparently the vacation is 5 months...however, they run a short camp in summer and winter (basically 50 hours per camp).
From what I understand they take volunteers to see if they can get enough people to work the camp...if they can, then you don't have to work...if not, then I guess all those that don't want to work have to sort it out somehow.
With their current increase in staff size I would guess that there will be enough people wanting to work that those that don't, won't have to. |

Zappadelta,
To me, it seems like a good situation at Dongguk, but you seem to think otherwise. Can you show me all the jobs that pay better for 12 hours per week?
Thanks |

Well, I guess the pay is pretty good, compared to other universities that advertise their openings. |

eh, not necessarily. 2.7 minus 400 for housing. That's 2.3 for 12 hours? That isn't too bad in my book, at least for someone starting off in a uni. It may not be good for those of us that have been in uni. a while. |

That's true, but is someone who is 'starting off in a uni' going to be able to get that job? Don't think so. |

With what benefits? 3 year term limit? housing? etc.? Gotta give all the facts my friend. Salary isn't everything. |

Deduct tax from that and you have about 2 million. |

And deduct paying apt utilities, you have about 1.7 - 1.8 |

Seems pretty low right? Again somebody starting on the university road would be glad of the chance and I wouldn't blame them. |

I think possibly we have people with different needs/wants in life comparing these jobs.
Possibly due to personal circumstances the jobs are seen as more/less attractive to individuals.
12 hours/week X 32 weeks = 384 total hours
2,700,000/month X 12 months = 32,400,000
Overall = 84,375 won per hour.
That's certainly not bad. I'm sure that doesn't fit everyone's lifestyle, but it might fit others.
Plus, remember, Dongguk "starts" at 2,700,000... |

I'm a Canadian...
I pay a "small" bit of taxes here... but that is easily covered by the pension contribution of the school.
Someone that works here for 2 years and then leaves, will find that they take home their entire pay-cheque.
I'm also non-resident in Canada so I don't owe any taxes their either.
When I look at a salary, I count it as completely going to me because my pension is gonna feel like one big severance payment. |
