As im going straight from Korea to South-East Asia to do the backpacking thing, I wondered if any of you knew where the best and/or cheapest place to buy equipment (especially a backpack) is in Seoul.
Im thinking that one of the markets (dongdaemun/namdaemun) would be the best bet but I would appreciate some pointers.
Cheers folks |

I was in the same situation a few months back, wanting to get a pack seeing my other one was too big to carry round SE Asia. Looked high and low and could only find ones that were gonna break my budget. By chance I walked into the bag shop in Itaewon, left hand side wlking towards Yongsan. Got a really nice pack for 45000 |

dongdaemun is where the camping supplies market is...
Go to Dongdaemun station and take exit 10, walk straight for one block until you hit the coffee shop then cross the big street. Walk for a few blocks down the main street past all the plant and pet dealers and take your third (or fourth?) left, if you walk straight until you are blocked by the road you'll come across a camping gear store that has been having a huge blow-out sale for quite some time, good deals there. The area itself is quite a few blocks so just wander around. A lot of places are closed Sunday so you're best to go on a Saturday...
good luck |
