I adopted a gorgeous cat in May, thinking it would be good for my daughter.
The cat has had a few owners - but always an indoor cat, never outdoor.
I thought she would make a good companion for my kid, but the cat had never been around kids before mine, and no matter how hard we tried, she doesn't like my daughter and would scratch her and be hostile towards her.
My daughter LOVES the cat and likes playing with her - although rough at times, but she is a young child. I asked her many times to play nicely with the cat, but at 5 years old, it's a case of one ear in, one ear out.
So I don't have a choice but to put this cute kitty up for adoption.
I really would like to keep her, but she doesn't like my daughter and has more than once scratched my daughter and made her bleed. She almost got her in the eye once, too.
Oh this cat is 4.5 years old or there about. I have pictures of her at home, so I will upload them when I get home later this evening.
As we would like to get another cat, a kitten this time, I am afraid I am not able to part with any of our gear. But either way, if no one here wants to take the cat, I will have no choice but to send her to a shelter, which I would hate to do.
Please refrain from judging me - my daughter wakes up in a sweat some nights because she has nightmares of the cat scratching and hurting her. |

| Doesn't anyone want a cute, fully house trained and independent kitty cat? |

have you thought about nail guards? All they are are little pieces of plastic (rubber?) that you put on the nails, to prevent scratching.
Just an idea. |

| Possibly have the cat declawed. Sending the cat to the animal shelter is the same as sending it to a death camp. Only a matter of days before the poor cat is euthanized. |

So cute!
I wish I could help by adopting her, but I have vacation and use it. Finding catsitters for so much time would be difficult and unfair to the cat.
Good luck in finding her a good home, though. |

| Is the cat hostile with your daughter in response to rough play? I'm thinking of getting a cat. However, I'm a bit concerned that this scratching/biting situation may occur in my home as well which is not what I'm looking for. |

Do you have any children?
If so, this cat is not for you. Yes, it's partly in response to rough play... but the cat just doesn't care for kids.
She is great with me, however. |

| Cats aren't hostile to age groups; that just doesn't happen. If the cat is great with you but responds aggressively to your daughter, you should be able to easily recognize the problem (hint: it starts with an 'f' and ends with 'ive-year-old'). Replacing the cat with another cat would not solve that problem. That would simply result in a cat that grows up to be either overly aggressive or overly skiddish. |
