So I want to get this game, but I am hesitant because of the server system switch. I am very curious to hear about other people playing this game in South Korea and how easy it is to find lag free games

Lag is my main selling point at this time. I am talking about the PC version also.

Thank for any info.

I am pretty stoked for this game and might actually buy it. I can't speak for MW2 or any of the other COD games, but I've played other online games fine in Korea. I have no problem playing in American servers but European servers cause a bit of lag.

I would tell anyone thinking of buying to read about the controversy regarding MW2's multiplayer.

If you are a pc gamer:
no more dedicated servers
"matchmaking" system which automatically pairs you up with people
one of the players hosts the game which destroys the ping of others
no lean
no access to console commands
no changing the field of vision
limited to 6v6 or 9v9 player MAX
no custom mods of the game
no alt tabbing while playing

it's basically a DIRECT port of the console version, and completely takes away all of the benefits of being a pc gamer while still paying the same price for the retail.

Get Borderlands, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, or even Call of duty 4, way better choices in my opinion.

+1 Darkray16

I'm getting pretty tired of PC games being ported directly from consoles with barely any effort to optimize then and make use of features only available on the PC. It's bad enough that PC games now have ridiculous amounts of DRM, but the stripping of no dedicated servers from Modern Warfare 2 automatically removes it from my want to buy list.

Imagine ten years down the road you remember how fun MW2 was to play. You fire it up with your friends hoping to get some nostalgic gaming going on but you can't because the matchmaking servers were turned off years ago. One can still fire up Doom, Quake, and Half-Life and play.

To be honest I originally started play MW on the xbox when it came out, and only later played it on PC, recently I play alot of WAW on PC so its interesting to play on servers with so many people, but its not a deal breaker to me

According to their new server system, it matches you to people with an optimum ping and all that, and im sure you can still join up with friends

If enough people give negative feedback of the system they will easily introduce dedicated servers, its a no brainer I think

But my original post simply wants one question answered, has anyone played this online in korea on PC and can you comment on the levels of lag?

ordered it on steam over the weekend, wasn't hard getting games in the main mode (team deathmatch?) but the other modes dont' have as many people, I think the online play might already be cracked here in S. Korea, which is unfortunate only in that it creates less people avaiable to play with if you happen to have boughten the game

I got it recently for PS3 and I never really have any problems, at least nothing unforgivable. Every once in a while a match will have to reconnect to a different host or searches will time out (but as soon as I restart the search I instantly join a match). I don't remember it being any different in the states.

I find plenty of people for T.Deathmatch, Big Team games like Domination, third person mode, all of it. If you ever wanna play send me a PM and we can swap gamertags. I don't have a headset though but it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I keep getting shot Sad with a kill/death ratio of 1:25 Embarassed

Now normally its a lag problem if you shoot a player in the back 8 times with a shotgun, he then turns around and knifes you... but the game does not feel laggy.

I guess its back to Little Big Planet for me.

I can comment on the games for 360, similar match making system i believe. If you are in korea and play with other people in the world, expect only a yellow bar no matter how fast your internet is. My connection is a 10 mb/S connection too.
