Rain was interviewed on Fox recently http://english.chosun.com/site/data/html_dir/2009/11/16/2009111600796.html in the whole interview he did not mention Korea once. When talking about where he was from he said he was from Asia. I like this. His English isn't bad.

If he gets a percentage of the film's profits his agent probably advised him to shut it about his nationality because the more 1.3 billion Chinese and the rest of the Asian nations identify with him (not to mention Asian Americans), the more money he'll rake in from the box office.

The host seemed to REALLY want him to talk about Korea it seemed. She sure made sure to throw in his name "in Korean" at the end.

Yeah you are right, it seemed like she wanted to press the Korean Sparkle a lot more than him. She pressed him for the Taekwondo and for the bi. I think by saying you are Asian you really open yourself up, fans feel like they are supporting one of their own whether they be Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese etc. It is a good move from him.

To be fair to the rabid koreans, if Rain hadn't won, Colbert would have. So either way, it would have been comical.

His english was pretty terrible just 1 or 2 years ago.

I've seen the video, it's really awkward at times.

But he's definitely improved.

I think he did well in the interview. His English skill really has improved, and he barely had an accent in Ninja Assassin. Maybe he'll learn English the same way Antonio Banderas did?

Yeah, and that prompted Stephen Colbert to spoof Rain's music video, and then Rain himself actually appeared on the Colbert Report to have a "dance off" battle (i think it was DDR) with Colbert. LULZ ensued. I've actually really liked Rain ever since that. The guy has a sense of humor!
