Anyone from Canada or Ontario have advice on supplemental or complete health coverage? My old school never followed through with the whole thing and I don't want to chance this new job. Need insurance!

You could try CAA but as far as I know most travel insurance covers only travelling abroad and not actually working (or scuba diving, roller blading and para-sailing for that matter). I don't think you need advice from anyone particularly from Canada or Ontario- you need advice from any expat on purchasing reliable and reasonable private health insurance in Korea.

And check out EFL-law- I think your employer is obligated to get National health insurance for you and can't just 'forget' about it (although I don't think s/he is obligated to pay for ALL of it either).

The insurance, as far as I grok, only covers you in the event of an emergency... you're hit by a taxi or maybe your appendix bursts etc. It doesn't cover annuals or if you find a lump in your lung, well, go home. That said, and given it's the law your employer must enroll you, I would think if they fail to do that and you are hit by a taxi, your employer would be on the hook for the hospital bills.

Good avice. I asked for the CDNs to wiegh in, as we have a degree of coverage depending on the province we come from, while abroad. But it will usually only cover medical expenses based on the cost in Canada for the same procedure. I also heard as a canadian, in an emergency, it would be pay first and get it back later from the CDN\prov government. You are right however, they "legally" - my boss - should provide the health care on the terms in my contract.
