A lot of the university jobs want you to submit a sample of your academic work - either a copy of your thesis or academic essays. I submitted a few from my M Ed, but are any of you worried that some guy will just take these, put them through the translator, clean them up and then submit these into Korean journal articles? Especially with the 'good' university jobs, these guys might get a hundred academic essays - might be a good scam for them.

I think Daves has made me cynical... Wink

Possible. But if you've seen how well these translators work, by the time someone cleaned it up to make it anything less than gibberish, it might be easier to write a new bloody article.

If I were asked for a sample of writing, I wouldn't be so worried about someone trying to publish my paper on Chaucer in a Korean periodical! I suppose if you were concerned about this you could try submitting portions of several papers rather than complete ones.

That's why I only give them self-destructing copies of my work.
