|
|
I would like to change my date.
I started in Sept. of 2008 resigned for 2009. If all things go ok I will stay for another contract. However I would like to change the date to the Feb start date because leaving in Sept really makes it difficult to apply and interview for a School job back in the States.
Has anyone changed their date with EPIK? |

Most will just renew for another year and resign midway (Feb). |

I would like the benefits of the one year completion. Severance and airfare. |

'resigned' or 're-signed'?
resign=quit
re-sign=get a new contract.
I think we're missing something here, can you specify please? |

Why... were you drunk and is she ugly now you've sobered up?

If you quit... why are you asking questions?

Most Februarys have 28 days (unless it's a leap year). Numbers are important when you speak of contracts - "the Feb start date" is meaningless and only narrows to what you refer to within a month. This has consequences as to legal responsibilities/duties on both the employer's and employee's part.

All smart-ass answers aside... yes... but I had the amendment translated to Korean (in the unlikely event I ever end up in a K-ourt) and signed (stamped) by the individuals with authority to amend the contract. |

*Note to self: A few mistakes and unclear questions gets people to respond*
We re-signed
I'm an EPIK teacher so the begining of the school year here in my area is March 1. My wife and I have a date of Sept 1. Leaving in Sept. and finding a teaching job back home is very hard.
I guess resigning mid way would be ok as long as all parties involved understood why. I just thought the date change would be more sensible and civil. I know being civil isn't a priority here.
cruisemonkey did you just approach the POE and tell them what you wanted?
Thanks for any help. |

I very much doubt that... considering March 1 is a statutory holiday.

If you're married, dating is kinky.

I'm sure... and your wife may find herself having to deal with a difficult situation while on a date.

What do you mean by "ok"? If you resign in the middle of your contract, it is likely you will be 'made to pay' (figuratively) during the period of notice (however long that may be - I don't know what your contract stipulates). Just because Ks can't plan ahead doesn't mean they don't expect you to. After all, it's not like the start dates of PS/university semesters have changed.

No it's not. If you 'telegraph' your plans to the Ks you will likely find yoursef (and your wife) suddenly 'redundant' without notice. Korean law (30 days advance notice of dismissal) may be on your side, but 'logistics' are not likely to be.

No... I am employed by my school (not the POE) and my date change was minor (four days).
There is a huge difference between asking a mindless bureaucracy for a big change and asking a couple of people for a small change. |
