Please recommend 100+ hour online TEFL/TESOL courses that are accepted by GEPIK/EPIK/SMOE.

Thank you.

I'll recommend the least expensive one - they're all crap. Cool

You know what is so funny about those TEFL TESOL certifications and Korea is that I have a Master's in TESOL, but some schools don't actually accept this. They want the 100 hour TESOL certification. What a joke! "Uh, yeah I have a license to drive nascar cars." "Sorry, we need someone with a learner's permit."

What's even more funny, and sad, is that I am going to probably have to get one... Embarassed

if you search in this forum you can find another person's answers. Use it as a reference.
Do not pay him for answers that are online if you do a search in this forum.

Good luck with your business. Smile

I'm trying to find a TEFL course that EPIK will accept I've seen some one recommend:

http://www.koredinco.com/?page_id=19

Was it a decent course, would you use them again?

Thanks

I would also like to know. It's one of the cheapest, but it looks a little scammy.

Do NOT pay for the Asian EFL Journal TESOL certificate.
I read a lot, studied hard and tried to write the best essays I could.

When I submitted the final essay and finished the certificate, the "CEO" cut off all contact with me and never sent me the certificate.

$350 and +100 hours wasted.

The TEFL International course that many of you recommend (the "beach in Thailand") is coming to South Korea after Xmas.

The course is part-time, either a few evenings a week, or weekend afternoons, and leads to full internationally-acceptable TESOL Certification which includes the very popular and succcessful TEFL International Methodology that works wonders in Asian cultures. It's going to be held in Seoul near Seoul Station.

There are a few other bonuses for this particular course: it's run by one of the most qualified and experienced trainers in their company; the certs are signed by Dr. David Nunan; part of the course can be done on-line if you like; there is a high degree of specific course content on teaching in Korean classrooms; and a sizeable "holiday course discount" if you sign up before Jan. 1st, 2010. Check out the link here: http://www.teflkorea.org

You can PM me for more details, or call them at 02-6399-6507

I like the Koredinco, but I haven't finished it yet. However, I don't know how much good it will do outside of Korea.

I'll vouch for the koredinco program.

For a pay rise in the Korean public school system (i.e., EPIK / GEPIK / SMOE), the cheapest program you can find will typically suffice; just make sure the course is at least 100 hours, and I would recommend koredinco for that purpose, as it is recognized by the Korean Ministry of Education (but probably has little merit outside of Korea). If you think you will need a more professional cert down the road or you want to significantly improve your teaching in the classroom, do a CELTA, Trinity or an accredited certification program that includes at least 40 hours of teaching observation / feedback through a university back home.

The online certificates offered by companies like ITTT, TEFL Int'l, i-to-i, etc. are neither accredited nor widely respected anywhere. However, they generally will get you the 100k bump in salary here in the Korean public schools if that's your primary motivation. Also, you may want to double check with EPIK, GEPIK or SMOE before enrolling in a TESOL certificate course to ensure that they'll accept the diploma and guarantee the pay increase. I've heard they are getting pickier nowadays on which of these courses qualifies you for the salary increase. Good luck to you in whichever course / direction you choose.
