Seriously, what's with Koreans and eye patches. In all my 27 years on this planet i've known a total of 2 people that had to wear an eye patch due to injury. Today I saw three (3) people on the bus sportin' the patch as well as a girl in my office who, when asked about it, just gave me the old cyclopes stink eye and ran away.
When falling, do Koreans instinctively soften the blow using their face? |

I've been told that Korea has very high rates of conjunctivitus (pink eye). It's contagious and you're not supposed to rub your eye- I suppose wearing a patch would help to keep it clean and deter rubbing. I've never heard of a doctor recommending an eye patch for conjunctivitus but then I also don't wear a surgical mask when I have a cold... |

Makes sense...Do most Koreans admit this? It would explain why the girl at my office scampered away all embarrased...I managed to squeeze some information from this one korean pirate girl at Subway who was making me a sandwich. She just said "mountain", which I assumed meant a mountain fell on her face but maybe it was a clue to something more sinister...hummmm |

I've noticed the patches too. Even more tellingly, when I had the kids design party invitations, one of them drew a bunny rabbit with an eye patch. What's up with that? A cartoon character? |

Umbrellas sounds likely. I've always thought they were dangerous contraptions. |

the tape and gauze look just sucks though. why don't they go all out with the black patch and the skull & crossbones? i mean, it's temporary, and as long as you've got to wear a patch, why not have some fun with it? |

The right answer must be an "inflammation in the eyelid".

If only the folks took the cue of one Kurt Russell:
They could be stylin' and profilin' with that stye 'n' ther eye.
