What's up all,

I'll try to keep this simple.

I'm getting my F4 Visa tomorrow here in the U.S., and I also just talked to a recruiter who informed me that if I have a F4 Visa, I do not need the state-wide Criminal Background Check with Apostille. I was planning on getting the background check tomorrow (drive is quite far) then sending it to the state department to get the apostille. I don't want to waste any time, but I don't want to be screwed in Korea as well. So my question is:

Does anyone know if that is true? Do I still need the background check?

I'm also trying to get a position at a public or private school, not a hakwon if that makes a difference.

If you're applying for Public Schools, you'll need a CBC, even if you're on an F-4 visa.

Yes, if you are planning on working in the public school system you will need both the CBC and heath check. If you are getting a job at a hagwon or university, you may or may not need it. Some universities require the CBC some don't. (WooSong University is one example of a Uni that does). As for hagwons, I don't know of any that require an F4 VISA holder to get the CBC, but there may be some that do.

Error on the side of caution. it is better the waste the time now and find out later you do need one to get a good job and then waste tonnes more time and effort to get it.
